Teachers TVÂ was a website and formerÂ free-to-airÂ distance educationÂ television channel which provided video and support materials for those who work in education in the UK, including teachers, school leaders, governors, teacher trainers, student teachers and support staff.
Its aims included raising educational standards, saving the workforce time, and boosting professional development. It also provides classroom resources and all content is available to watch or download for free. Further professional and practical help is on hand from its active online community. The service was launched on 8 February 2005, and is managed by Education Digital Management Ltd, and funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF). The website was co-owned byÂ Ten Alps(75%) andÂ ITNÂ (25%).
There was general programming too, including a weekly half-hour news programme, documentaries on the educational issues and controversies of the day, and guidance on topics such as behaviour management.
Teachers TV â€“ Digital Project Manager (Agile)
Within an agile methodology environment I was responsible for scheduling, co-coordinating and monitoring the successful delivery of a specific web and experientialÂ campaign ‘Sharing your great practice’ in conjunction with ITN which was a competition for primary schools to share best practices in their chosen field of expertise. Each week the winner from a panel of industry experts would select the best practice that would then get videoed and uploaded to the Teachers TV repository.
I was also solely responsible for setting up teachers TV in house usability lab and creating test scenarios for multiple digital project development streams. I selected Morae usability software as a cost effective tool to perform, track and report outcomes.
